Steuern - ein Begriff, der regelmassig nur mit finanziellen Belastungen in Verbindung gebracht wird. Wer aber die Pflicht hat, Steuern zu zahlen, hat auch das Recht, Steuern zu sparen. Die steuerlichen Vorschriften sind so umfangreich, dass eine umfassende Darstellung in diesem Buch weder moeglich noch geboten ist. Dies wurde den Rahmen bei weitem sprengen. Dennoch: Das Steuer-Taschenbuch macht den Studierenden fit fur das Leben als Steuerzahler und gibt auch den Eltern nutzliche Tipps. Es beginnt mit einen leicht verstandlichen UEberblick uber den Sinn und Zweck von Steuern sowie uber die fur Studierende relevanten Steuerarten. Dann werden unterschiedliche Studentenjobs systematisch untersucht, inwieweit Steuerpflicht oder Steuerfreiheit vorliegen. Aufbauend darauf wird fallstudienartig das zu versteuernde Jahreseinkommen eines Studierenden ermittelt - unter Berucksichtigung aller Pauschal- bzw. Freibetrage, die sich anbieten. Im Anschluss daran wird exemplarisch und korrespondierend zum vorhergehenden Kapitel das zu versteuernde Einkommen einer Familie - mit einem studierenden Kind - beleuchtet. Sehr ausfuhrlich und anhand von vielen Beispielen wird dabei auf Steuer reduzierende Massnahmen (Werbungskosten) eingegangen. Die danach folgenden Ausfuhrungen zur Berechnung der Hoehe der Steuer sowie zu den unterschiedlichen Erhebungsformen - damit dem Finanzamt auch ja nichts entgeht - sind gleichermassen von Bedeutung fur Studierende als auch Eltern von Studierenden. Das Gleiche gilt fur das abschliessende Kapitel zur steuerlichen Behandlung von Schenkungen und Erbschaften.
