Through the first person accounts of Anne Callender, a grandmother who grew up near Paisley, this book looks at the different types of transport people used during the late 1930s and 40s and some of the journeys Anne made, from the bus-ride to school to travelling to Glasgow on the tram, to sailing across the Firth of Clyde on a paddlesteamer. The book is part of the In Grandma's Day series which presents 20th-century history for the very young through a personal account of a real life grandma's experiences in the 1930s and 40s. Each story is a first-person narrative full of anecdotes about a grandma's childhood and early teenage life. The books support the National Curriculum for History at Key Stage 1.

Unfortunately the packaging didn't survive Royal Mails handling and this was the only book I received of five I had ordered. I contacted WeBuyBooks and they have been brilliant in trying to resolve the issue of the missing books. They are replacing one that they still have in stock though unfortunately are unable to do so for the other three so are issuing a refund for these.
