The ST3500630AS 500GB SATA Seagate provides ultra-fast performance with its 3.0 Gb/s Serial ATA interface. Seagate's unique perpendicular recording technology stores data vertically. This removes the need for moving parts and allows better use of the storage area while providing high dependability. This hard disk drive has a hot-swappable, point-to-point connection plus Native Command Queuing. The Barracuda 7200.10 will deliver speed, efficiency, durability, and superb performance for all your requirements.The Seagate ST3500630AS has burst data-transfer rates of up to 300MB per second, giving you the high speed you would expect from a 7200RPM unit. It has a state-of-the-art 16MB cache, and the NCQ software increases the drive's performance even during the most challenging applications. Included is SeaTools, a diagnostic software that regularly performs a self-test. It also supports S.M.A.R.T. reporting and monitoring technology, allowing you to easily review the drive's performance.Built-in scan diagnostics and calibration in this 500GB hard drive ensure peak efficiency operation. Every time you turn on your PC, the Seagate Clean Sweep feature calibrates the drive and fine-tunes it to maintain reliability. Seagate's unique Adaptive Fly Height maintains the distance between the three 167GB platters and the disk head. The SoftSonic Motor gives you whisper-quiet operation. For protection against data corruption from hard handling, Seagate includes its Enhanced G-Force Protection. The HDD even runs diagnostics when it doesn't need to access data with Seagate's Directed Offline Scan.Both the Adaptive Fly Height and Clean Sweep are new technologies for the Seagate 7200.10 series product line. The AFH maintains consistent read/write parameters by adjusting the height between the platter and the disc head, which is based on changes in environment operating conditions. This means consistent performance under a range of temperatures and humidity levels. Clean Sweep keeps Seagate's Barracuda drives reliable and helps maintains data integrity. It does this by running the disc head over the platters while smoothing out any irregularities found on the surface. The Barracuda hard disk drive is also RoHS compliant, making it environmentally friendly, with low levels of lead, cadmium, and mercury.The ST3500630AS 500GB internal hard drive 3.5" form factor measures 26.1mm high by 101.6mm wide by 146.99mm long. The average idle current is 9.30 watts, the average seek power is 12.60 watts, and standby power is 0.80 watts.
