I got the new one for the HD800s because the supplied balanced lead is too long, and it's a 4.4mm where I prefer the XLR connection. Both leads are the same length and they are IMO an improvement over the standard Sennheiser leads. They are well built, the cables L+R are colour coded, all connections are perfect, and the cable is less microphonic.
