Synopsis
A "richly evocative, captivating, and reflective memoir" of a feminist artist who broke free of the limits placed on her by family, Judaism and society ( Publishers Weekly ). Growing up an Orthodox Jew in Brooklyn, Helene Aylon spent her Friday nights in a sea of extended family as the Sabbath candles flickered. Passionate about art, she dreamt of escaping the strict, secular world of her youth, but instead married a rabbi and became a mother of two. Then, her world was split apart when her husband was diagnosed with cancer, and Aylon found herself widowed at thirty. Free to explore both her own soul and the changing world around her, Aylon sought a home in the burgeoning environmental art scene of the 1970s--creating transgressive works that explore identity, women's bodies, the environment, disarmament, and the notion of God. Finally, she dares to asks of Judaism: Where are the women? With many examples of her work included within, Whatever is Contained "is an arresting tale of uncommon courage, intelligence, and wit" following Aylon's search for truth in art, and the links between feminism and Judaism (Gail Levin, author of Lee Krasner: A Biography and Becoming Judy Chicago )., Growing up an Orthodox Jew in Brooklyn, Helene Aylon spends her Friday nights in a sea of extended family as the Sabbath candles flicker. - 2***4 (148)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Mese scorsoAcquisto verificatoGot the TV series combat, season 2 volume one from the seller and they shipped it out fast and well wrapped up for the journey. It arrived earlier than listed and in the condition they listed it as being. This is not a series easy to find out side of complete box set yet alone for the great price they sold it for. The seller showed great communication and I'd buy from them again without question. Good series and good seller.

Customer service was prompt and helpful, answering all my questions. My order arrived quickly, well-packaged, and the product exceeded my expectations in quality. I’m impressed with the attention to detail and the overall experience. I’ll definitely shop here again and highly recommend from this seller to others. Thank you for a fantastic experience!
- k***a (206)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Mese scorsoAcquisto verificatoBook is beautiful, but jacket is worn more than the pictures. Restorable, but annoying. Only wrapped in shipping plastic with no padding or other protection, but fortunately it came through ok. Overall I'm happy with the book, and seller gave a very good price, but should show more better pictures and pack the books better. Anyway, this will be a great addition to my Kubrick collection, and I can recommend the seller.
