Biographical adaptation of the Beverly D'Onofrio memoir starring Drew Barrymore, Brittany Murphy and Steve Zahn. The story follows young Connecticut woman Beverly (Barrymore), who has aspirations of gaining a university education and becoming a writer. However, when she becomes pregnant her parents persuade her to marry the father, Ray (Zahn), and put aside her higher education plans. Over the next few years Bev relies on the companionship of best friend Fay (Murphy), who goes through a similar situation to Beverly.
