Few people can aspire to the level of rock royalty inhabited by Sir Paul McCartney, and that's part of makes this behind-the-scenes glimpse of road life so interesting. Official McCartney photographer Bernstein's luscious shots chronicle the former Beatle's well-received 2003 world tour, starting with rehearsals in a Los Angeles hangar and wrapping with a homecoming in Liverpool. Included are dozens of interviews and snatches of dialogue from crew, chefs, technicians, and the band. A standout: a transcript of rehearsals for the first-ever duet between McCartney and Beach Boy Brian Wilson. - USA Today In 2002-2003, former Beatle McCartney went on a world tour that Billboard named "Tour of the Year" during which he performed before two million people. The text consists primarily of interview extracts, snippets of conversation among band members and unsigned scene-setting paragraphs and (often extensive) photo captions; there's much fascinating info about the logistics of putting on a massive tour, from choosing personnel to preparing the right food ("nothing with a face" by order of vegetarian McCartney) and song selection.
