Die Tochter eines Millionars wurde entfuhrt und ihre Schwester ersucht Rick Harloff und seinen Partner handeringend um Hilfe. Endlich kommt Geld in die notorisch leere Kasse! Das Entfuhren gestaltet sich fur den Entfuhrer insofern schwierig, als er feststellt, dass zwar die geforderte Summe des Loesegelds stimmt, nicht aber das Geld ... Aber gut! Wenn's beim ersten Mal nicht klappt - auf ein Neues! Der Hamburger Kriminalkommissar Ferdinand Fleck steht vor einem anderen Problem. Ein unheimlicher Serienmoerder treibt sein Unwesen in der Stadt und katapultiert einige Herren rucksichtslos ins Jenseits. Fleck bittet den Meisterdetektiv Hermann Harloff, den Vater des jungen Rick, ihm bei den Ermittlungen zur Seite zu stehen. Gemeinsam begeben sich Polizei und Detektive auf die Jagd nach den Tatern. Zu allem UEberfluss muss H & W auch noch Dutzende Hunde aufspuren, die aus unerklarlichen Grunden nach und nach verschwinden. Dieser Komplex fallt naturgemass in das Fachgebiet Wuttkes, der sich mit Unterstutzung der Sekretarin Sophie Molly Meier ins Abenteuer sturzt. Die Elbmetropole Hamburg bietet die malerische Kulisse fur ein Wettrennen gegen die Zeit und den Kampf gegen das Verbrechen. Schauplatze sind die Sundige Meile, der Hafen, das Millerntor-Stadion des FC St. Pauli und die Elbphilharmonie.
