The debut release from Not From Wisconsin was recorded over a year in an apartment in the hills of Ithaca. NY. It is warm and inviting, a perfect fall record. Music that is meant to be listened to, to be paid attention to...it's simple, let it play and be warmed by the melody, the harmony, and the attention paid to each nuance in every passage. An Americana-chamber group with half of the members classically trained and the other half schooled through the experience of playing in bands, they achieve a balance rarely found and a sincerity that lingers on your palette. Everywhere we go people say, 'Not From Wisconsin is a funny name.' It is. While conjuring images of Americana, the paradox is the hint that maybe there's something more. There is. Don't be so literal, we hold nothing against Wisconsin, we just think that Americana means more. Our name could be Not JUST From Wisconsin, but it just doesn't roll off the tongue. If you like memorable melodies, meaningful lyrics, and a band that puts the song first, then maybe you're Not From Wisconsin too.
