From the opening hours of the game, it's clear that the story of "Disgaea 4" follows a different path. Rather than the classroom setting of previous "Disgaea" games, "A Promise Revisited" is more political in nature. As Valvatorez, a fallen tyrant, you're looking to overthrow the current ruler of the underworld. Battle your way across this evil realm, capturing land and winning allies as you go. Like previous games in the "Disgaea" series, "Disgaea 4" was developed by Nippon Ichi Software. In the United States, it was published by NIS America. This game had a release date of 2014 on the PlayStation Vita, and is a port of the PS3 title that was released in 2011.The combat in "A Promise Revisited" remains the same as previous games. The combat system is a turn-based affair. When it's your character's turn, you move to a new spot on the map, attack enemies, or heal allies. Characters have special abilities they use, which deal more damage to their foes. This game is all about strategy and positioning. Easily overcome scores of enemies with cunning tactics. Some new gameplay additions have been made to this title. Characters now pick up more than one friendly unit and create a tower. These towers have special abilities they use, which decimates enemy forces.This PlayStation franchise has always focused on building your power, and "A Promise Revisited" is no different. High-level monsters you control turn into weapons, which you then give to your characters. While you lose an enemy unit, the powerful weapon you create turns the tide of battle. You can also fuse two creatures into one powerful combination. For the ultimate power, fuse two creatures and then create a weapon. As you progress through the story, your captured land grows, giving you access to more features. You also capture any enemy unit you fight against, using torture to turn them into allies.All of the DLC from the PS3 version of the game is present, but brand new features were added to this version of the title. All of the sprites now use high-definition artwork to take advantage of the hardware in the Vita. There is also brand new content to play through that involves both Valvatorez and Artina. This Vita RPG also features new weapons, magic, and new fighters. These fighters are from previous games in the series. Fans love the ability to change the sprites on their weapons. The Event Viewer now lets you watch story scenes again. If you're finding the game too difficult, the new Cheat Shop can give you an edge.This PS Vita port features a number of improvements over the PlayStation 3 title. Several skills and weapons are rebalanced, and you visit the Chara World more often. You now have the ability to retry a stage directly from the menu. Combatants can also learn more skills. This edition of the title features the same rating as "A Promise Unforgotten" on the PlayStation 3. This Vita title has a rating of T from the ESRB. This rating is due to the suggestive themes, violence, and use of alcohol present in the title.
