The Western Digital Scorpio Black 500 GB HDD represents a reliable piece of hardware that will consistently deliver results.The WD Scorpio Black Series is a 2.5-inch form factor unit designed for installation in a compatible notebook device. It measures 2.75 by 3.94 by 0.37 inches with a weight of 5.47 ounces. As a hard-disk drive (HDD), it utilizes perpendicular magnetic recording technology to store and search for data on spinning disks. With a seeker head, the disk spins at a rate of 7200 revolutions per minute (RPM). This high-speed 7200 RPM function gives the unit the capability of being consistently responsive to user requirements. The hard drive has an internal data rate of 160 MBps and a drive transfer rate of 300 MBps. In tandem with a latency of only 4.2 milliseconds, the hard drive is capable of rapid read-and-write operations. A 16 MB buffer cache is present for the purposes of storing data locally. This further increases the speed at which users may retrieve data by reducing communication times between hardware components.Black hard drives may be installed via a Serial ATA (SATA) port on a compatible motherboard. It utilizes a SATA 3 Gb/s 7-pin connector as an interface from which it receives and transfers data. It efficiently draws power from the SATA interface as well. Despite its high performance capabilities, it has a low power consumption level that keeps temperatures in check. The hard drive operates at temperatures between 32 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit, helping to keep notebook systems cool. The drive is equipped with a sizeable amount of storage for an expansive array of files, including larger types such as videos and music. With the power of a desktop console, it provides fast read-and-write performance. This helps to ensure that even large files are retrieved in a timely manner by the drives.These drives have 500 GB of space, providing users with plenty of room for data. Furthermore, it’s equipped with an Advanced Format (AF) file structure. This allows it to interact with Microsoft, Apple, and Linux software. It’s able to provide storage for users with Windows 7, Mac OSX, and other operating systems. A multitude of WD technology comes with the drive as well. ShockGuard technology safeguards the unit from damage by protecting the stability of internal components. The model is designed to counter the effects of being jostled around in mobile laptops. IntelliSeek intelligently allocates the unit’s resources according to the needs of the computer, reducing wear and tear. Combined with other balancing features like IntelliPark and IntelliPower, the hard drive is designed for longevity. It can be utilized for extended periods by users. It provides consistent data transference functions with low data error rates.
