If you put it on a wall or fridge, you may not be able to see the numbers as it looks like 88 88 due to the poor contrast. In an angle the black of the 88 88 disappears. I use this as a speaking engagement timer, so it is fine and the numbers are large enough to be seen from several feet away. You can see in photos 1, at 45 degrees, the 00 02 can be seen, but not in the second photo.

The only thing I didn't like was that the battery is always on, which will wear it out quickly. The magnet on the back is very useful, but I usually just use the small stand at the back. I bought 2, one for the kitchen and one to put near the computer. They work well for me.
