Product Information
Might Martin Luther King Jr.'s greatest accomplishments have been ahead of him? His murder in April 1968 did far more than tragically cut short the life of one of America's most remarkable civil rights leaders. In this concise biography, Harvard Sitkoff presents a stunningly relevant King. The 1955 Montgomery bus boycott, King's 1963 soul-stirring address from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, and the 1965 history-altering Selma march are all recounted. But these are not treated as predetermined high points in a life celebrated for its role in a civil rights struggle too many Americans have quickly relegated to the past. Carefully presented alongside King's successes are his failures - as an organizer in Albany, Georgia, and St. Augustine, Florida; as a leader of ever more strident activists; as a husband. High and low points are interwoven to capture King's lifelong struggle, through disappointment and epiphany, with his own injunction: 'Let us be Christian in all our actions'. By telling King's life as one on the verge of reaching its fulfillment, Sitkoff powerfully shows where King's faith and activism were leading him - to a direct confrontation with a president over an immoral war and with an America blind to its complicity in economic injustice.

- e***g (3122)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoAs usual with this seller, the book was exactly as described and very well packed. However, delivery times can vary significantly. This was one of 4 books ordered at the same time. Two arrived in about a week, but this one took almost 3 weeks. A reliable seller who answers questions promptly, but could improve on dispatch times.
- f***p (162)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoThe book arrived well packed get & I pristine condition at a good price. I would have liked it by 1st class post & I contacted this Seller via EBAY 'CONTACT' but got NO RESPONSE via either my email account or on ebay and certainly not in my Spam folder...SO what can you say I was inconvenienced a bit but got a positive outcome? I think they're reliable for transactions but something is remiss with electronic communication via EBAY or perhaps not tech savvy or disinterested or unwell etc..
- b***7 (35)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoMy order was relatively rare edition, so on the point of getting the book, the decent price, the description, and communication with the seller all excellent. I did find the long dispatch time quite mystifying, but it did come and I was delighted when it did. based upon my experience I would recommend the seller , but do take note of their dispatch timings.
