The Intel Xeon E5649 2.53 GHz processor is the perfect CPU to run your system of servers. This processor from the Westmere EP series of CPUs features six cores, a 12MB memory Smart Cache system, and many other specifications that can have your servers running in a fast, stable state. With plenty of Intel’s processor technologies in this chip, you’ll have the server performance you’re after. This Intel Xeon E5649 has six cores, which means there are six independent CPUs inside this chip, ready to power your server system. It also runs with 12 threads via Intel’s hyper-threading technology, which essentially means that your system will run as if there are 12 CPUs inside, allowing for parallel computing. Highly threaded software applications can get more work done in parallel, completing tasks sooner. The Intel Xeon E5649 processor runs at a 2.53 GHz frequency, but can be turbo boosted up to 2.93 GHz for more speed with Intel’s Turbo Boost technology. That extra GHz will kick in when you need it, and when your system can handle the extra thermal load, resulting in a higher GHz frequency and more computing speed. The CPU memory cache is a sizable 12MB L3 Smart Cache memory. Smart Cache memory will share that amount of memory between each core for quick access to that data, which can cut down processing times across your system for high performance. The max memory size is 288GB, and the Intel Xeon E5649 supports memory of type DDR3 RAM. The instruction set is 64-bit. Intel 64 architecture improves performance by allowing systems to address more than 4GB of both virtual and physical memory. The socket, which provides the mechanical and electrical connections between the processor and motherboard, supports FCLGA1366 sockets, and the package size is 42.5mm by 45mm. The max thermal design power (TDP) is 80W, and the voltage is 0.750V-1.350V. The bus speed is 5.86 GT/s QPI, with 2 QPI links. The Intel Xeon E5649 CPU also features Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology, which balances high performance with the power-conservation needs of mobile systems by which the applied voltage and clock speed of a processor are kept at the minimum necessary levels until more processing power is required.
