Synopsis
In August 2010, Wylie Overstreet published a satirical article called "If Historical Events Had Facebook Statuses" on the website CoolMaterial.com. Within a month, it had received 3 million views and had been "liked" by 120,000 Facebook users. In A WORLD HISTORY ACCORDING TO FACEBOOK, Overstreet expands this concept into a full-length history of the world, from its creation up through to the present day, as if Facebook had existed all along and Abraham Lincoln had written a status update about "taking the missus to the theater" on April 15, 1865 and Ben Franklin had done the same alerting his network that he'd signed the Declaration of Independence ("Bring it," replied John Adams). Filled with hundreds of real-life historical figures and thousands of not-at-all-real Facebook statuses, comments, and actions, and parodying Facebook users' proclivity to over-share and use lazy jargon ("lol," "rofl," "fml," etc.), this is the definitive humor book for our generation., The Sun is now friends with Earth and 7 other planets Pluto: Not cool. What if Facebook had emerged with the Big Bang, and every historical event took place online? Imagine how we'd we see history if . . . On April 15, 1865, Abraham Lincoln updated his status: "Taking the missus to the theater" God and Stephen Hawking trolled each other in a comment war over the creation of the universe? Alexander the Great "checked into" all the countries he conquered Irreverent and clever, The History of the World According to Facebook goes back through time, from the beginning of the world to the present, to cover all the major events and eras of human history, such as the Renaissance, the Industrial Revolution, and the Information Age. Filled with hundreds of actual figures from across the centuries and thousands of invented statuses, comments, and actions lampooning Facebook users' penchant for oversharing, abbreviation, self-importance, and lazy jargon, The History of the World According to Facebook defies all attempts at taking the multi-billion user social media platform SRSLY. It is the funniest parody of history and the dawn of man since, well, the dawn of man.

- k***u (16)- Feedback lasciato dall'acquirente.Ultimi 6 mesiAcquisto verificatoThe books are in beautiful condition. However, both were shipped in the same envelope after charging an extraordinary price for shipping each book. Somehow, that doesn't seem right. I know you make more money in the shipping than it takes to send each book, which is why you can charge only $2 for the book. I realize you make most of the profit in the shipping cost. But I was surprised that they were shipped together.Risposta di: krhunt*1- Feedback con risposta del venditore krhunt*1.- Feedback con risposta del venditore krhunt*1.Thank you for your order.I noticed that you didn't mention the shipping discount REFUND that we sent back to you.In case you didn't know USPS media mail shipping is now almost $5 for the first pound. My total profit for this transaction was $2.55 not including the envelope, tape, label, etc.We combine shipping to save you money.Obviously, the more you buy at one time the more you save.Lastly, we always try and use the cheapest way to ship.Hope you enjoy your books and will use us again.
