'U' FORM LEVELLER FEATURES
Precision manufactured with lapped working face for ultimate flatness.
One-piece lightweight simplistic construction ensuring ease of use.
Unique slim design enabling single string dressing without affecting adjacent strings.
Two leveller sizes are provided. Their respective lengths cover the fret graduations efficiently.
Perfect for general fret levelling, spot levelling, fret chamfering and detail sanding.
Dressing can be concentrated accurately on worn areas limiting the degree of excess sanding to surrounding areas.
GENERAL FRET LEVELLING
Use the long leveller for the wider fret spacings (up to 12th fret approx) - and the shorter leveller for narrower ones.
CROSS DIRECTIONAL USE
FINISHING THE CHAMFERS
FRET LEVEL CHECKER
Use for identifying uneven frets by placing lengthwise across the frets to check for high and low spots. The tool has 3 different length sides to allow for varying fret spacing and incorporates a useful 90° angle on one corner.
6 Grades of abrasive paper : Coarse – Ultra Fine, are included with the kit and are pre-cut to fit the leveller sizes. The abrasive supplied is sufficient for several fret dresses.
The leveller sizes permit standard abrasive sheets (280mm x 230mm) to be equally cut and used without waste when replacements are needed. (Replacement abrasive kits are also available).
The choice of starting abrasive will be dependant on degree of wear but it is essential to use each stage after this, as skipping any grades will leave abrasions that will be more difficult and uneconomical to remove with the finer abrasives.
2 Stainless Steel Fretboard Protectors for single fret use (1x Narrow & 1x Wide) are included.
FRET CROWNING STICK
- The stick will chamfer the fret sides only with the fret top protected from the abrasive by the fold in the groove.
DRESSING THE FRETS
Wrap the fine abrasive around the nylon stick and brush the fret tops to smoothen out the crowns.
POLISHING THE FRETS AND FINGERBOARD
The wire wool can be used along the grain of the fingerboard to polish the frets and clean the fingerboard also. The wire wool can also be used as a final dress for the chamfers.
DUST AND INGRESS
There will be a fair degree of dust throughout the process. It is advisable to mask the fingerboard and protect the body area - especially pick ups - from any ingress. PVC tape is provided for this.
WHAT THIS KIT WILL DO
With correct use this kit will provide excellent results and make your instrument a dream to play. A little investigation into your guitar set-up and attention to detail is required however the results will be satisfying.
