At the time of writing the 400D is 10 years old. Camera technology has progressed quickly, and Canon's present entry level DSLRs are much more capable than the 400D. Nevertheless, it still is a very usable camera, and with prices on the second hand market at around €100 for a unit in decent condition it's a nice bargain for a beginner who wishes to try their hand at still photography (the 400D doesn't do video) with a proper camera. I bought my 400D second hand eight years ago and racked up 90.000 shots with it, the total shutter count now stands at 105.000. I still use it although it is no longer my primary camera. One of the reasons why I won't relinquish this camera is the availability of a free alternative firmware known as 400plus. Not endorsed by Canon, but I highly recommend it, as it significantly expands the camera's capabilities. The EF-S 18-55 kit lens isn't god knows what, but there's ample availability of better lenses on the second hand market and a decent lens will retain its value and usefulness when one decides to upgrade to a more capable camera.Leggi l'intera recensione
